The Dermatology Service provides a range of services for the diagnosis and care of people with a skin complaint including skin cancer.

Services are provided by a consultant lead team with specialist nurses and GPs with a specialist interest that operates from GP surgeries across the Island.

How can I access this service?

There is no direct access for new patients requiring a dermatology opinion. All new patients need a medical referral from their own GP or a Hospital consultant. All patient referrals are triaged by a clinical team and then allocated to a clinic. Patients with intermediate conditions may be asked to see a General Practitioner trained in dermatology (GPSI). We have a number of GPSI clinics that allow patients faster access to the dermatology service.

All patients with a mark or lump on their skin that could be a melanoma or invasive squamous cell skin cancer are referred through the two week wait system and seen within that period.
